About this project

This project was devised by South Gloucestershire Council's Wildspaces Partnership Project and is a part of a biodiversity initiative focusing on Wick Golden Valley Local Nature Reserve.

Natural England through DEFRA's Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund funded the webcam project. The project is supported by CEMEX, South Gloucestershire Council, Eco-Watch, Hawk and Owl Trust and the Friends of Wick Golden Valley LNR.

CEMEX and Wick Quarry
Wick quarry is managed by CEMEX. The company has been operating in Wick for thirty years and is a major employee of the small village. Regular blasting of the quarry doesn’t seem to affect the Peregrines. Workers on the site keep a watchful eye on the peregrines nest and often report sightings.
